we are developing an optical wireless power transfer link to transfer needed amount of power for data neural recording, processing, etc. for NatB_lab. this will be done by providng a uniform LED lighting on the ceiling of the cage and each rat will be equipted with a head-mounted optical receiver. we will use both visible and near infrared part of the light spectrum for this perpose. the head mounted optical receiver will be backed up with a rechargable battery for start up and darkness conditions (hideing, etc). the goal is to provide continues 250mW power at 3.3v based on current DBI2 neural recording probles electrical power demand. optical receiver will be consist of a light weight solar cell, PMIC (power management IC) including developed maximum power point tracking algorithm (MPPT), switched capactitor DC-DC boost converter and Analog to digital converters (ADCs) and reachargable battery.
